This elegant vase demonstrates the very best in hand blown Fused Metal glass making and will be the perfect center piece for your room. Fusing metal to glass objects follows an ancient Romanian tradition. The most common materials used to create fused metal glassware are copper, nickel and brass. Using a proprietary technique, an electrically conductive paint is applied to the areas on the glassware that are to be fused with metal by the artist. The glassware is then placed in a chemical bath that contains the dissolved metal to be electroplated on the glass. After 24 to 48 hours the desired thickness of metal is deposited (electroplated) onto the glass surface. The metal surface is now heated or chemically treated to create a unique artistic antique patina effect. During this creative process each artisan is free to explore the tantalizing world of molten glass and to define his artistic personality.
